Just as people in the past made decisions that shape our region today, we decide how Greater Cincinnati will function in the future. Where do you think we should invest our time, technology and resources?
My vote is for more sidewalks, bike lanes and trail connections. Pedestrian traffic is good for shops and restaurants and the best option for the environment. Narrowing roadways may inconvenience some drivers, but lower gas emissions and helping people be more active creates a healthier community. Let's optimize what we have!
We need to be forward thinking. We should be investing in tech solutions, such as driverless vehicles, and drones. They will help get us and the stuff we want get from place to place efficiently. There are plenty of opportunities, we just need to be bold early adopters. This approach will stimulate our economy and make Cincinnati a national leader.
All this new technology seems pointless to me when we can't even keep up the roads and sidewalks we have. I think we should invest in our current structure: fix potholes, repair highways, and make cars more efficient. It may not be the most exciting option, but I think it's the most realistic.
